Bushings made for magnetic vertex

I have good bushings for most of the kits I make regularly with the exception of the magnetic vertex. This kit doesn't seem that popular here but I've sold more of that pen that any other - usually in olive wood.

Does anybody here regularly make bushings that could make and sell me a set for this kit set up to turn between centers?

When you say you aren't thrilled with the size, are you referring to their length? Do you know if the magnetic Vertex is the same size tube as the original Vertex? The tube chart only shows the original.

My reason for all the questions. Well I'm able to make the bushings, but I've never purchased any so I'm not sure what a professionally made set look like. I have made sets for my own use. I have a metal lathe and like to get a little further away from the chuck while I'm turning. I make a drive bushing that chucks up at one end and is a bushing to drive the blank at the other. The tailstock side is a shorter standard size bushing with a 60 degree tapered for the live center.

I was thinking of a trade. I can make the bushings and I will trade you one Magnetic Vertex pen set for a pair.

Hi Dan,

I will pm you as we'll, but wanted to share a couple of photos.

There are three vertex models and I believe all have different bushings. The one in talking about has the magnetic metal cap.

Here is a pic of the stock bushings and then a pic of stock bushings from another kit as well as the same from penturnersproducts (who doesn't make this one).

I don't really care how its make, but his are longer on both ends an I believe are tighter inside the tube.

Are you sure those are from penturnersproducts? All of mine from him are solid with just the 60 degree cut for the centers. I think the ones from lazerlines are drilled through though. either way, I agree with you. the ones from penturnersproducts are top notch, as are the ones from lazerlines.

About the only suggestion I'd make is to contact some of the members here who do metal turning, and see if they'll make you a set. Might cost a bit more, but if that's what you make a lot of, it might be money well spent.
 
If Johnny (penturnersproducts) isn't available, I'd drop Constant (Laserlinez) an email. Either can likely knock them out in short order, but may need you to send him a kit to get accurate measurements off of.

I'm sorry. You are correct - that set is from kazerlinez
 
The Zen uses uses the same size tube. The only difference is diameter of the finished blank.

Good point. I recall getting some of those from a nice guy. ;-). The jr 2 / atrax has a 10.5 tube as well. I could just use the zen set and caliper the final dimensions as an alternative.

Although my first preference is to just have the exact bushings.
