Burl for ash portion of realistic cigar pens

Been assembling the pieces/parts necessary for a go at the realistic cigar pens and need some wood for the ash... can't seem to find anything local and everything I order comes in unacceptable (greens, too black, etc). Anybody have some excellent grey burls?

will buckeye burl suffice? I have some nice greyish pieces left after i trimmed up a large vase blank. What size are you looking for ?

Buckeye burl would be fine if its good and grey... I need a few pieces 7/8" x 2" or longer
