Burl and Stainless Steel Stopper.

Several weeks ago a friend way down in USA sent me a wonderful box full of a whole bunch of different kinds of wood. All were marked as to species except a stick of burl about 2" square and about 7" long and it just said "stoppers" on the side of it.
I got around to cutting off 1/3 of it and was quite surprised to see what it was like on the inside.
If anyone knows what wood it is I would sure like to know . It was quite light in weight for its size.

One down and two to go. Might do them between other jobs sometime tomorrow.

I turned a screwdriver handle out of some that looked just like that.

Yes, I believe you are right because I was told it was maple burl on another site as well.

got the other two done out of that same stick of wood. .
Both with stainless steel hardware as with the first one.
This is the kind of stuff that gets grabbed up real quick at craft sales. .
We seldom ever drink wine but wife is thinking of keeping one for when we have guests and occasionally have a bottle of wine on the table . I think she wants to show one off . . . LOL . .
