BUM Swan Eggs

Ok I fooled some of you to think that I was not going to cast some of that Butt Ugly Mallee (now known as BUM)honeycomb into blanks.Today I cast 9, have not cut up yet but it looks promising!
Here are the "eggs"

Hey, what resin are you useing? I have all the vacuum equipment, but haven't set it up yet. I haven't used alumilte yet ether, but am going to give it a whirl when I generate some cash from other pen sales. I also mixed up some of the acetone/plex mix but it's sitting on the shop windowsil waiting.........I also have all kinds of chewed up wood that has a very promising look. I saved out some carpenter ant created spalted maple that has awesome color in it. I couldn't bring myself to toss them in the firewood box.......i have thought about even casting a blank- semi transulucent with an ant or 2 embeded..........

paul, I use Alumilite

If you are going to cast an ant, you will need to dehydrate it if you use Alumilite or it will foam up and ruin the blank. Alumilite and moisture don't mix very well.

Updates....
today I drilled/glues up 2 of them.....I hope to turn them in the next 12 hours or so...
