buffing out

How do u guys buff out your pens once they are done being sanded do you leave them on the rod and buff on a beal buffing system or what.

I put mine on an old mandrel rod and hold it by pressing on the back of the barrel with my thumbs. I rotate it by rolling it up with alternating thumbs. That way there are no bushings to worry about and a secure hold so the parts don't go flying if I lose my grip.

I use a threaded rod on my old lathe to hold buffing wheels from the supplier George recommends in this post:

I use a dowel rod. I don't want to chance picking up metal on the buffing wheel.
