Buffalo horn

Just got some buffalo horn. Anybody have any tips on finishing them.[?]

Sand,MM, and Buff, then pray for no cracks. Just be aware the horn in not the same as antler. The ones I made got a CA finish after the sanding and polishing. Then a little more sanding and buffing.
Do a good turn daily!

Good luck I hear the stuff cracks like mad duno myself I have never done any .

Drill slowly and watch your heat build-up.. I've never had one crack (Yet.. fingers firmly crossed []) I actually used the PP wax on mine, but Don's recommendation is adequate.. the horn polished beautifully... I think one key to the cracking may (and only MAY) be keeping the walls kinda thick if you can. I've made a Panache and Cigars mostly from mine...

Chuck may be right on the thickness. The ones I made were all barons. Never thought of that. It does polish to a great shine. I may have to try another with a kit whose wall thickness is greater.
