Hi all, I have made quite a few bufallo horn pens since I started turning.
As of now, NONE have cracked after assembly, hope this one isn`t the first.[:0]
Asian Bufallo horn which has a lot of grey markings evident, satin nickle Baron rollerball.
Comments appreciated.
Cheers
Mark

Nice work Mark,

I have never turned bone or horn, this looks nice and I bet it has a nice feel in your hand...how did you finish it?

I was wondering about Scottish Buffalo horn...:)

Only in the North, eh![)]

Jim and Chris - I finish bufallo horn the same way as I finish acrylic blanks.
Wet sand to 12000 MM, then some plastic polish.
Jim just Haggis running around over here![;)]

Les - it turns more like acrylic blanks as there are ribbons that clog up the mandrel when turning.

But be warned, the SMELL is really offensive when turning, and the smell goes right through your clothes.[xx(]

Keeps the wife out of the workshop though![;)]

Awesome looking pen! I made one just like that awhile back with the same kit. I gave it to a friend and I keep asking him if it split yet. It's been about a year and it's still looking great. Maybe it has to do with the glue some use for the tubes. I used thick CA.

Hi Tim, Have you ever tried Gorrila Glue? I have been using for quite a while and have had no problems with splitting, even with slimline's.
