I'm very happy with how this piece turned out. I know a lot of guys go for the double and triple dye, but I just love the natural colors of the buckeye.

Thanks for all of the positive responses! Looks like I made the right choice going with a natural look. I got really lucky with the blank because it was a short (I think about 4"), so I didn't have many options for positioning, but the contrast in the color came at a perfect point in the pen. As for the alignment, I didn't realize the cap was triple-start threaded, when I put the cap on for the first time I was baffled as to why it was misaligned. Took me longer than I would like to admit to figure it out :tongue:

Gorgeous piece of wood and fantastic job with the fit and finish. I really like that particular kit because it gives so much space for wood. Really well done.

Thanks Martin! Out of the 150 or so pens I've made, this is probably my best. I agree with you on the kit -- its a good quality, shows the blank well, and doesn't break the bank.
