Hi folks,
I am loooking for another source for a particular High-end Bubinga Case at a decent price. I have ordered some from PSI but it's been four days and they haven't even shipped yet. That's fine for now - but I'm looking for another source in case I need them on a tighter schedule. http://www.pennstateind.com/store/PKBOXHE2.html

PSI seems to have the best prices for these and they are RELLY nice cases for the larger pens. The "cherry" version of this box is pretty shallow and not great for large pens. Here is the cherry box. http://www.pennstateind.com/store/PKBOXHE1.html

I have seen these boxes on ETSY and ebay - where people have purchased them at $11 and then turn around and sell them for $20. If they're actually selling them, that's pretty easy pocket change.

I have a dozen on order but will likely be looking to order 30+

Thanks for any resources. Much appreciated

Regards

That's a great looking box and bullet hinges too. I would be hard pressed just to buy the hardwood and hardware at that price. I make my own, but honestly at this price you can't go wrong.

Thanks for sharing the link, I will plan on making a few of my own down the road. Simple, yet elegant design.

Certainly not if your time is worth anything. Building nice wooden boxes to match pens generally takes as long as the pens, if not longer....

I sold a matching box in buckeye burl about 6 months ago - It took twice as long, and I sold it for half the cost of the pen. I know, my own fault there, but I know I will not do it again. That is a nice box for a good price. Too bad it's being sold by a slow company... I guess you just have to build their time delay into the projects.

I highly doubt the wood is actually bubinga. But it's a nice case and it works for me. No other sources that I can find right now.

In dealing with PSI for items with no alternate source, I have made it a point to keep my personal "in stock" quantities at a level that allows for worst case reorder lead time. That way I avoid getting in a time bind. This requires a little extra attention on my part, but has worked pretty well.
