Here is my first attempt at using some of Don Wards (its virgil) vinyl siding trim-board as segment pieces.
Interesting to work with and not as easy as I had hoped. The product itself is much softer than the surrounding woods so it has a tendency to be slightly lower than it's surrounding's. Very porous when cut at angles for segments but to my surprise it generally stays it's original color and doesn't absorb all of the dust during sanding.
I did note that it appeared to melt slightly while I was applying 2 coats of sanding sealer. I'll be playing with this some more to see if I can reach it's limitations.
Pen consists of white vinyl siding trim board / black dyed curly maple / black steel wood.
As always comments or concerns welcome.
