BS Jig to trim blanks

Several years ago, before I even considered pen turning, I saw a home-made jig to trim the edges off a square blank using the bandsaw. The blank was put in a v-slot and after trimming, it became an octagon.

I have no problem with making the jig except that I don't remember how the blank was held in place. Too close to the blade for my fingers.

Anyone use anything like this?

That gives me a start. I just need to hit Woodcraft and pick up a clamp. I have everythng else on hand.

I made a jig similar to that but used a toggle clamp.
