This is made from Brown Mallee and cellulose. I used a lighter tortoiseshell colour for this one to try to blend it with the wood. The brown mallee, (the name for the burr from certain eucalyptus trees, rather than a species in its own right), is stabilised.
The threaded components are glued with a 2-part epoxy. Once cured the blanks are then drilled, bored, threaded and shaped.
This pen has clean lines when closed, meaning the cap is flush to the barrel. It uses a Jowo 6 nib and 13mm triple lead cap threads. The hourglass shaped grip section is around 11.3mm at the waist.
Overall length around 140mm closed, 134mm open.

Cheers,
Ash

Splendid artistry Ash. I really admire your work. 👏 👏 The timber, Cabachon, and cellulose are a wonderful match.

Michael I have never stabilised this timber ever but I have to say whatever you did it is splendiferous in appearance ,imagination and style, fully deserving praise and in my memory.

Kind regards Peter.

That looks spectacular and the flush lines when closed really appeal .

I appreciate the sealed end look too. A beautifully executed piece all, round
