Thank you for this site! I got into pen turning due to inheriting a lathe and some supplies from my brother. He had been a turner for years but sadly passed two years ago. He left me his lathe, tools, and some kits.
This hobby is my meditation. It has become what I do not for the money but for my relaxation and stress relief. Thanks again for letting me join, look forward to learning from the experts.

Welcome Ronnie! be sure to check out the "IAP Library" under "Resources". It contains a wealth of information, how-tos, and techniques on all aspects of small item turning.

Welcome from Utah Ronnie!

I am sorry for your loss and cannot think of a better way to honor his memory than to continue in a hobby that he so loved!

Welcome to IAP. Turning does have some therapeutic value. Concentrating on turning and the rest of the world ceases to exist. But losing a spring can have negative impact until my wife finds things.
However,I lived in Atlanta in the mid 60s. Hindsight, we should have bought 100 acres around Fayetteville or Newnan and retired in luxury. FWIW, Dad worked in Peachtree City. Plant manager lived in Marietta at the time. "You live clear way out there?"

Welcome to IAP. You won't find a better place to learn all about pen making and other turnings and enjoy the general camaraderie.

Please share some pictures of your pens. We love to see pics!

Welcome Ronnie - from the NJ shore! My lathe was my lifesaver during my working years - a place to go, be absorbed into something fun and where the stress of the day just passed through me. Great way to remember your brother!!
