My old can of Brasso is empty. I read today that the new formula (since 2008) is not as good. I was wondering what all the DIYers here use for a metal cleaner? I used Brasso on everything I do have Simichrome, but IMO it is not as effective a cleaner.

I see an original can on fleabay for $100!

Bought a new bottle about a month ago because I use it on all the brass trinkets I am putting in my watch part pens that are brass and it shines just as good as it always did and does it fast. As soon as you wipe it turns brass bright. I like it and do not believe the hype.

Years ago there was a metal cleaner that worked great but I think it's off the market. "Noxon" -I haven't seen it in years.

Good point. I am forming an opinion based on reviews and feedback from unknown (to me) sources. I learned a long time ago to not trust reviews, etc on the internet. I need to try it for myself.

Ok, I just got back from the store with a plastic bottle of brasso. I used it to clean up some chrome exhaust tips. Seemed to work fine. The rag ended up with a lot of black, and the tups are shiny. I do have some pitting, not sure if the old stuff would have minimized that. I did not see that last time I cleaned them a few months ago.
