While I always appreciated the skill involved in making these bolt pens, I never really cared for the result.

I really like the resulting pen on this one - not sure what you did that was different than others I've seen - bit it worked and it worked well. Congrats!

I put this on my bucket list the first time I seen the steel bolt pen skiprat posted, thinking I would love to try someday when I get a metal lathe. I never gave brass a thought until now. Looks great! Thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you all for your kind comments and encoragement.
In answer to a question, the the cap threads are 12.0 X0.8 triple lead.
I used carbide drill bits but HSS would do well also.
Kind Regards,
Doc :)

Great looking pen. One to be really proud of. Where did you obtain the 12.0X0.8 triple lead taps and dies. I know nothing from metric. I'm an imperial kind of guy.

Les, I got mine during a group buy. They do have a current group buy in the works.

Very cool! I have a question. How many bolts does it take to make one pen?

Seth, Thank you. Depends on the length of the bolt and size of the pen you want to make. I used two bolts for this pen.
Regards, Doc:)
