A bracelet stand from mahogany, for my wife's birthday. She has a lovely collection of silver bracelets that have been previously stored in a big pile. The wood is from three sources. The top part is a reincarnation of a sailboat tiller I had made for my son, but it cracked. (Note: do not make tillers out of mahogany...maybe white oak next time). The vertical pole is from a leftover piece of mahogany decking used in some steps I built a few years ago. And the base is a slab given to me by a woodworker friend who was glad to oblige when I asked him if he had any scraps lying around. So basically, it's all wood that probably should have been thrown away. Finish is Penturners Plus and microcrystaline wax. Glued up with epoxy, mostly because the fit of one of the joints was a little loose.
