I've seen pictures of these boxes where the top of the box is a snap top. A lady at church wanted a snap top that I had made, but I wouldn't give it to her because they were made for some kids who had done something special. So I made her this box instead and incorporated the top into it.

For this first one, I made the box and then made the top to fit it. On a subsequent one (no pictures yet), I made the top and fit the box to the top - that was much easier.

On this one - the box bottom is black walnut and the "top" is red elm.

So.....the top can be at the top with the top of the top on top.....or the top can be at the top with the bottom at the top.....or the top can be on the bottom when the bottom is at the top...:biggrin:
