Spalted Maple, 8" round and 3" high and around 1/4" thick. Two coats of shellac and three coats of hand rubbed Poly.

Beautiful ! Really Nice ! I'm glad to see this forum isn't only about pen turning. I am hoping to try my luck bowl turning as well as I had a nice cherry burl blank given to me today. Your bowl photos are a real inspiration.
 
Thanks everyone. Ron, I do it all on my mini Rikon. If you can turn a pen you can turn a bowl. Just need the right accessories.
 
Yeppers, gonna pick a bowl gouge at our January meeting down at Wood Werks. Should be all I need to go with chuck that I have.

I've tried a bowl gouge and can't get the handle of it. I use my monster tool for most the digging and a round nose scraper for finishing..... inside that is. Outside for the final cut I use a lancer style skew.
