I saw this soon as I logged on as the newest photo uploaded, and my first thought was also owwwwy. Don't get me wrong, as it's very cool indeed, but perhaps the part closes to the stopper should be smooth to combine the crazy technique and functionality.

Nice workmanship but I see where the other guys are coming from. I wouldnt want to be trying to grip that one too hard. My Personal preference is seeing the rose lathe work as a highlight rather than overpower the piece.

The beautiful work on top should be the focus of the piece. I didn't realize that the side embellishment was Rose work. Looks almost filed or routered to me. Plain is better IMHO. But beautiful work.
