No one to ride with, no new belts for my lathe, the day sucks. Soooooooo, I decided to give my new to me Craftsman band saw a try. My wife cut down a couple Aspen trees that died along with pruning a flowering crab trees a couple of years ago. They have been sitting on a wood pile for a couple of years. I cut some for small blanks food for pens, bottle stpoppers, pepermills and other small things. I'm presuming they are soft woods. I made a dozen bottle stoppers and they turned ok. The saw performed beautifully, cutting like hot knife through butter. I think re-sawing may be a problem because the rip fence is rigid and cannot be adjusted for blade drift. I will have to rig up something that works.
