LOML loves to watch the Encore Western channel. Most days for about the last six months we have been watching "The Rifleman" We sit around and joke about Lucas McCane being a mass murderer and there goes another guy to boot hill,;):D

And there's a new western coming to the sliver screen soon. Saw the trailer yesterday. It looks good. But my all time favorite still had to be Tombstone. Val Kilmer was fantastic! "I'll be your huckleberry."

X2! Tombstone can't be beat! I've seen it three times and I'm about due for a fourth. With that said, open range has a great shoot-'em-up scene.

Here's a question for ya. The movies Tombstone (Kurt Russell) & Wyatt Earp (Kevin Costner)came out about the same time. Which did you prefer?

Open Range???? You have to be kidding. Having to sit through the rest of that movie is not worth any scene. That had to be the most boring western ever.

The Mag 7 was my favorite until The Cowboys (my favorite part is where the kid cut the reins of Dern's horse). Then Tombstone took over as my fave. Becca, that should answer your question about which Earp move is best. Like Travis, I did find several good scenes in Open Range, but I like Bob Duvall. And I agree with Chuck in that Silverado was prolly Cosner's best western. But I liked The Missing, so what does that tell you?

Edit: I mentioned a new western earlier, but couldn't remember the particulars. It's called 3:10 to Yuma and stars Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. It opens Sept 7th.

Don't forget all the Spagetti Westerns with Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. I used to love watching them, esp when they had beans for supper[:D]

Once Upon A Time in The West by Sergio Leone. Simply the best <s>pasta</s> spaghetti western of all time.

-Peter- "two thumbs up" wood0of-1kind[:D]

I thought that scene was from Blazing Saddles! Now THERE was a western! [:D]

I think they had beans in ALL the spaghetti westerns,[:D] but now that you mentioned it, you are correct, the funniest scene with beans WAS in Mel Brookes' Blazing Saddles. Can you believe that was 33 years ago!!!!!
Now we are all really showing our age!!!! I bought that on DVD for my kids and LOML to watch about a year ago. We got the pop corn and everything but they all went to bed before it was half over. Heathens!!!![}:)][:D]

<br />My all-time favorite western would have to be The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

Soundtrack still gives me goose bumps whenever I blast it[:p] That was the first real movie I ever saw. It was at a deer lease on a little bitty TV that was powered by a loud generator. I had the sound turned all the way up just so I could hear it.
But I think Tombstone is still a better movie overall.

I felt Open Range was a little slow but when the acting is good, it's easier to watch. GB& the U, great movie. All these years I thought the little guy was an Italian actor and found out recently it was Eli Wallach, go figure. Fist Full of Dollars, Few Dollars More, all good movies. Clint was just too cool!!!!!

I can't believe they're remaking the 3:10 to Yuma, should be interesting to see the changes.

The Western Channel is about all we watch! My Dad is 90 and he lives with us, and HE takes care of the remote!!! [:D]

Of the two movies, Tombstone, definitely! I've only seen the Costner one once, Tombstone about twenty times.

3:10 to Yuma is in remake, huh? Could be interesting! Could it be as good as the original?

I think last month would have been John Wayne's 100th birthday, so there were a lot of his movies on. Man, I just love those movies!

My Wife tells me she grew up watching the Rifleman, primarily because the son was some kind of teen idol at the time! I hadn't noticed! [:p]

Later, Pardner!

Scott.

Oh Billy, your so right!!!!!!! One of my faves and one of his best[:D]

Scott, the 3:10 to Yuma is so old I believe it's a black and white. 1957 starring Glenn Ford.

Has anyone but me noticed that during John Wayne's last films, he almost always wore a red shirt, tan vest and tan jeans?
