Doesn't look like walnut to me either. Maybe it's sapwood burl?

I was told it was walnut .maybe it's wrong .Then i don't really know what it is .

Hmmmm...can't tell from the pics. But I can tell you it's a sweet looking pen! Maybe file that one under Dunnowood.
