Talk about a difference of looks from the same piece of wood .
This is the second pen that I've turned from the piece of Blue Pine and the difference is almost unbeleivable . The first pen stayed on the white side but this pen turned out a dark greyish brown color . The band is Luan Mahogany.

I bought some hickory from a friend that is dark brown. Hickory is usually nearly white. Go figger. BTW, it was very fibrous and I couldn't turn it. Game some to another friend as a challenge to see what her results might be.

Doug, there both great looking pens, but neither one really looks like pine. And heck, as long as your not trying to make a matched set,I like it when they look different. Nice work!
