I really like the detail on the closed end that adds some definition similar to but different than the stock end.

I have a question about the finial. I am guessing that you used the stock finial cap? Was there any trick to hiding the ring for the clip?

Yes I used the finial cap. The trick I used to hide the ring clip
was only that I made a knotch.
