Black locust wood pen

I would like to share this pen i made from a piece of black locust i found a few months ago. These trees grow everywhere in Greece especially in abandoned plots and no one seems to be interested in their wood. The chatoyance of the wood is really interesting. Maybe a new sub forum should be made: appreciate your local exotic trees, cheers everybody.

That is nice! I bet it would look good on a bigger pen. More surface area for the chatoyance.

Looks very nice , different in the first picture from any black locust I`ve seen . I`ve always found it amusing that so many think that the only woods worth turning are those from exotic places . Many species can look quite plain when grown under ideal conditions , and quite spectacular if some stressors such as wind or drought are frequently applied .

the first picture was taken while the tube was still on the lathe in nighttime. its the spotlight that highlights the chatoyance of the wood

I finished the rollerball but no luck this time; the wood fibers weren't stressed enough i suppose.
I also removed the clip which gave the wood an opportunity to shine in my opinion, cheers everybody, thank you for your comments.
