I have some (presumably) black ash burl on my stash from previous trades. I turned a couple this past week and I swear they smell and look like cherry which makes me doubt if they really are black ash.

Question...does black ash smell like cherry?

I've not smelled any wood that comes close to that sweet smell from cherry. Not even the other fruit woods. Do the blanks have really small eyes? All the cherry burl I have seen does not have many eyes, and has lots of pitch pockets and pitch lines. Black ash burl is loaded with eyes. Any help? Hope so.

Rich,

Everything about the blank says cherry burl...except the written name on it [:D]. That is why I am confused since I worked with lots of cherry but this is the first black ash.
