Please see attached black chrome Maple Leaf (Sierra style) kit with black and white Corian blank. Still struggling with my lathe. At least now it turns but the constant speed control isn't functioning, which makes for an interesting turning experience, and every 30 seconds it turns off because the control board thinks that the lathe isn't turning. Clearly, the speed sensor, which was just replaced, isn't doing its job! Despite all of this managed to finish the pen.

Very crisp lines! I like the blank/kit combination a lot,

May I ask, what brand lathe are you using? I have a Laguna Revo 1216 that has been acting up similar to what you described.

If I said that you only get one guess what would it be? I could write a book on my overall experience!

Ummm.... Laguna?
I am on my 3rd drive spindle, second magnetic ring, just had to replace the control board, display board in the headstock, and the speed sensor, and it still isn't fully functional. Of course, it is now out of warrantee. Laguna supplied the speed sensor and display board at no cost, but the control board was very expensive, especailly for us folks north of the border!! To be fair I have a Laguna bandsaw and drum sander. I have had zero issues with them, and I really like using them. Pity that doesn't extend to the 1216 lathe, which I like when it's actually working.
