It does seem eerily quiet this year. I hope things heat up soon...(in a literary sense, not climate wise...it's too hot as it is where I am).

HEY GUYS!!!

I've seen and been involved in correspondence about the bash since last NOVEMBER!!! All you have to do is volunteer to be on the bash "committee" and you will know what is going on "behind the scenes"!!

Only "downside"---from time to time you have to volunteer to help make things happen!!

Give it a whirl, next year!!
 
I seem to remember more activity in advance of the launch date last year. Maybe I'm just not remembering correctly. That's a real possibility....what was the question again.......:rolleyes:

I don't recall seeing a call for volunteers. I do remember seeing a lot of posts about prizes and sponsorships, but not volunteering . Oh well, next year I will know to ask....

Our Activity Chairman, Mike Broberg kinda controls the timing of the opening events. The chairmen all stand in line like a starting gate in thoroughbred racing. The bell rings, AND THEY'RE OFF!!!

I believe you will hear the bell Saturday morning!! All the chairmen are ready, the prizes are ready, heck, even JEFF is ready this year!!!

Stay on the edge of your seats!!
 
That is a good point----I don't think I have EVER seen a request for volunteers!!

I guess we operate on the theory that everyone knows the bash needs workers and we are all adults---if you WANT to help, FANTASTIC!!

Isn't a volunteer a person who steps forward?? When you're asked, doesn't that make you an "enlistee"??

I believe everyone who is participating in the planning this year just asked Mike Broberg if they could be of any assistance. Careful though, once you help once, it kinda grows on you---the same core group is back year after year, with a few additions.

(This year we suffered one LARGE LOSS!!! The IAP could always rely on Landon (Hunter27) to step forward, in spite of his health issues. Such men are rare!)

It's also February 1 somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean for any ships that happen to be hanging around in that part of the ocean. In ConUS at GMT-5 we are a little shy of 8 pm.

We are good this year but if anyone ever wants to volunteer for anything during the Bash or any other activity all you need to do is PM me.

I suspect that COMPLETE information will be posted sooner than you think! :biggrin:
