Very Nice-- I have lots of Bird's Eye Maple:
Did you use BLO (boiled Linseed oil) etc. to enhance the grain... or CA which some say will do the same?

I use BLO to enhance the grain and not sparingly. I then spin the lathe to really seal it into the wood and let it sit for a while. I then finish with several coats of string instrument grade lacquer.
