BIG BOY pens

A few weeks ago I had the wife of one of our local football players ask if I could make several pens that would fit her husband's hand when he was signing autographs or indorsments without looking like a childs pen. He stands 6' 6' weighs 250 lbs. and can palm a basketball. These were two pens I made for her. First one is a Gold Spirit from Rockler. I used the tubes from a Jr Gent and the fittings from the Spirit to give me the extre length I wanted. I used black Carbon Fiber blanks from CSUSA full length with no trimming. Sanded and polished with Plastic Polish. Second pen is a Metro Rollerball in chrome from Woodcraft. The tubes are from a Rockler Spirit kit and the fittings from the Metro FP. I added Ivory bands with silver rings to the green pearl blanks. This pen measures 7"s closed and 7 1/2"s posted. The third pen, a normal sized Metro, in gold and oak burl gives you the idea of the size difference. Bigger boys need bigger toys !! Jim S

Eliminate the finial and make a closed end pen. There is no limit to the length or the width, that way.
