Hi All,

I have been asked to turn some slimline pencils for some music friends who like to keep such pencils in their music instrument cases. Generally this has been fun, because I make reed cases for clarinets, bassoons, saxophones, and oboes, and many people want a pencil to match the wood reed case (often matching their instrument color/grain/wood). My frustration has been that the slimline pencils come in varying qualities from different manufactures, and the lead sizes are varying as well (.05 - .07 yes?). Anyway, I'm asking the collective here what Slimline style pencil kits hold up the best and have the thickest leads? Sources for purchase?

Thanks very much!

Woodcraft still sells them with platinum plating. They call it platinum but it's a close relative. It's rhodium which most companies don't do anymore because rhodium got very expensive. They are a good price so they may have gotten them a while back.
