I'm not sure what others are using when it comes to resaw blades, but I got one of the "Wood Slicers" from Highland Woodoworking and I'm really impressed!! I can cut thin veneers, finishing cuts and smooth enough cuts for segmenting. I'll include a link. Just wondering if anyone else is as pleased with these as I am. What are you using that you like?

Martin, I have been singing their praises for years. They run straight and true for me like nothing else I have ever tried. The price is right for the quality they present.

The Mecca for Woodworkers

I'm a big fan of the Wood Slicer. I've been using them for a long time.

I don't know if any of you have ever had the chance to actually visit Highland Woodworking in Atlanta. It's in a beautifully restored building. For me, it's the mecca for woodworkers. Here's a little story about it's history.

A couple of guys in my local guild gave a presentation on bandsaws and they love the wood slicers for resaw and veneers too.. Their only warning was do NOT try and use them on any curves.... Really bad for the blades.

Martin--
Can you please be more specific as to which blade width and tooth info. I have been lost in the wilderness of bandsaw blades recently....I need a good recommendation!

Mike you need to be specific as to what you are going to be doing. Every blade and type blade has a purpose and you really can not buy a universal blade to do all. Just some thoughts.

Thanks for the information and link. I use 1/2 inch blades for bandsaw boxes and find the ones I use don't last very long. I'm anxious to try these.

These are straight cut resawing blades made to move wood out of the cut rapidly and not meant for curves. These blades take maximum tension and very close coolblocks for a straight cut and thin ganders when needed. No curves!

I have one of the Wood Slicer blades and really like it; although I have never attempted to cut veneer. I must also say that Highland's "Woodtuner" band saw blade is also really good if you cut wet wood at all.

Guys,
To be more specific, I just want a good clean cut, for segmenting. I have an old craftsman 80". It may not be a quality machine, but I am determined to make it cut well. It has new tires, cool blocks, was cleaned and this new blade.
I am currently using a 1/2 blade. I lost the packaging so I do not know the TPI. I was told by a local tool store, that the secret is to buy a higher price blade, I did that and it leaves a cut similar to a chain saw! Sorry to butt in to the post....but it sounds like you guys know what you are talking about.

Mike:
The Woodslicer is a variable tooth blade and is absolutely wonderful for resawing. The 1/2 works great on my 14 inch bandsaw. It DOESN'T cut curves

The Timber Wolf 1/4 blade works nicely for cutting curves, but is useless for resaw.

The Woodslicer is made just down the road from me, and it is all anybody around here uses. It is about the same price (actually a dollar or two less) than the Olsen or Timberwolf. The Laguna May be a better blade, but it is four times the price.

I'll be going near Highland Hardware (the Mecca of Wood Stores here) in about two weeks. Let me know if I need to pick up a blade for you.

For making precise angled cuts, the Woodslicer is boss. For "swirly" segments, I use a $100 scroll saw.

I just put one of the bowl turner blades on my 18" jet and it does a incredible job of cutting blanks out. I was playing around with the bandsaw and cut a veneer about 1/32" with the same blade. The worst thing about Highland is I go past it on the way home from work. It can be a COSTLY commute.

Mike, I was just looking to order a couple more Woodslicer blades. I will likely get a few other items as well, so will have it shipped direct. Thanks for the offer. One of these days I'll get a scroll saw. I don't have room in the shop for what I have now, so no room or money for any additions. I'm envious that you have a HH nearby. I have a Rockler about 40 min from me. Not really worth the drive. Enjoy
