I made my wife a bowl and she wants me to put a hole in the bottom to turn it to a flower pot for an African violet, but what is the best way to preserve the wood from the soil/water. The top of the bowl is mahogany and the bottom is swamp ash. I'm thinking either a poly or some kind of flex steel spray on the inside. Want to be sure to keep the outside pretty.
