I hope I am not opening up too big a can of worms here. I am currently using one of the CA/BLO methods to finish my pens. They are nice, but I thought I would look into some other finishing methods which might be better/easier. It appears the Beall Buffing system and Enduro are the two most popular that are not CA. How would you compare the three methods in terms of quality and ease of use?

Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

CA and Enduro are both great finishes. I'd have to say that Enduro is a touch easier but takes a little longer to finish. beartoothwoods.com has little 2 oz bottles you can try it with a smaller purchase. You apply pretty close to the same as CA.

CA is a great looking finish. As mentioned above, some finishes are easier than CA. I use the multiple coats and MM to a glass shine. Bought the BLO but haven't tried it yet.
Another finish I am "in love" with is the Double Cast PR method. Turn the barrels just under sized and cast in PR. Best finish I have seen yet. Deep and like glass. Of course, it only works in some instances. My latest Double Cast is my swap pen I sent to Neon007.
This is just my 2 cents. We all have our favorites. And I have graduated up as I progress through skill levels. From friction polishes to poly to CA.

You are not opening a can of worms, but this topic has been addressed several times before. You might want to do a search or simply browse through the finishing forum.

There are many very good finishes. Pesonally, I happen to be a fan of lacquer. I spray it with an airbrush, let it cure and then rub it out on the lathe.

Every person here will have their favorite finish. It comes from a collection of factors that includes such things as ease of use, time required, how it feels, how it looks, and how it wears. The "best" finish will be the one you prefer. I suggest you try them all, use the pens for awhile, and then make up your own mind which is the best.
