Hello, haven't posted in a few years, but started back turning just before Christmas making gifts. Had 2 Berea Button Click Sierra kits and used the provided tubes and glued up some acrylics. The tubes actually mic'd @ 2.43", kit instructions call for tubes to be 2.36". Turned them as is. Assembling first one and I couldn't believe it, but the tubes are actually too short by .11" and the cartridge would not retract inside nib with click button all the way out.
My mind changed from angry and disappointed to damage control and into Columbo mode and inspection. I came up with a simple solution to fix this shortfall (pun). I inserted the Parker refill into one of my collet chucks and parted .11" off the end of plastic head, which I determined is not needed to actuate the click assembly. Worked like a charm. I'll just have to part off a few refills to include with pen to my God daughter. Hope this helps out someone. Happy holidays!
