After seeing pictures like these all my life in black and white, I kinda forget that everything back then still had colors to it. Besides machinery etc being older , they look like modern photos.
 
I'm like you Brian, I have seen those photos quite a bit growing up in my grandfather's old shoe box. He landed D-Day +6. Some of the pictures were amazing to see the utter distruction of the war zone they fought and lived through, and so many lost their lives in. It was neat to see some of those old photos in color. It really brings it to life more to see them that way.

My FIL was a Lead Scout and had a Life Expectancy of 7 seconds soon as the ramp fell.
Needless to say he survived.
though he never would elaborate on that day.
