With the huge Thanksgiving show and the equally huge Christmas market show soooo close my shop has been really humming. I needed a couple of wood Diamond Knurl pens to fill the display box. These won today.

I bought the segmented blanks from someone on IAP but not Mark James. It was related to a pen exchange. I wait to turn more segmented blanks until the other segmented pens sell. They sold! Sorry for my old age, take no offense I really like them. The other two are pink ivory and blue box elder burl.

All if these will fetch a premium price.

The stacks are 12 cheese slicers. Yesterday I tagged 19 new cutting boards, whew!

I forgot to mention that I used a skew on the segmented ones at the end of turning instead of sanding. Great IAP hint I remembered. Thanks

Beautiful pens!

I've been working on some sets of pens for a customer, and one of the styles they liked were the chrome and satin chrome ones. I'm now a real sucker for the satin chrome! Looks so nice! I really like the blank you paired with your satin chrome pen here, the red and lighter colored woods really go well with the chrome in general.

The pink ivory is wonderful as well. I have a few pink ivory blanks, but sadly I wasn't paying attention when I bought them and they are half inch, so probably only viable for slimlines. Still, incredible wood, feels hard but soft at the same time.

If you are very careful and drill on the lathe, you can make a diamond knurl or a bolt with a 1/2" blank. I usually try 5/8 or 9/16.

Mark, the segmented blanks turned out really nice. Did you paint the tube on the green diamond? Looks like it may have been some bright silver. Very nice finish!

A blank maker not named Mark James!

I did not paint the tube as I usually never paint wood. I should have thought about it now that you bring this up.
