I have been working on cleaning and moving my shop around for the last two weeks. This involed everything from lights to the wiring.
Here's the BIGGEST reason for all the work.
The lathe now is 8 foot 6 inches between centers. It's a Powermatic 4224.
I did some trading with my machinest, I sure as heck could not afford to buy this.
This is not my pen lathe :)

There is a list of things that I want to turn.
Everything from a 4 poster bed to a Cannon.
Plus when I use the steady rest---I ain't got to take that heavy tail stock off the lathe. I can just slide it out of the way.

Check out this guys site.

His lathe is setup for architectural columns. Even has a GIGANTIC jig on it for doing the fluting!

Lee--- my outboard stand and steady rest are both the same blue. That makes three parts blue and only one mustard.
Marty ----that guy has a heck of a set up. It's really the way to go if you can afford the set-up cost. Build one thing and get very good at it.
I hope to have time this week to get something long mounted up on the lathe. Right now we are just so far behind---- Jan. was a very good month here.
