Beaufort Ink pens

Hello everyone. I just got an email from Craft Supplies USA notifying me they are now carrying Beaufort Pens from England. I went to the Beaufort website and they look pretty good but a little pricey. The styles are a bit different from what I've seen here. Also, the bushings are chamfered at 60 degrees for turning on center with a 60 degree live tail center and a 60 degree drive center. Has anyone here had any experience with Beaufort pen kits? If so, what is your opinion?

I think that 95% of the kits that I use come direct from Beaufort Ink, and being in the UK their prices are similar to anyone elses.
Some of their bushes are compatible with other kits from their range and a lot of their kits use the same drill bit size.
The quality is second to none.
Their equivalent to the Slimline/Streamline is the Jetstream which is novel in that it takes a Parker style refill with good quality ink.

Beaufort is real popular around here. While I don't think I've ever actually turned any of their kits, I think they're right at or even above Dayacom in quality. They're high-end kits designed to last a lifetime, and the price reflects that. From what I can tell, at least some of their fountain pen kits come with an actual Bock nib, which is a very big step up from the IPG nibs 99% of fountain pen kits ship with.

After watching the CSUSA video, I want to try out the Tempest kit, and the Mistral - with its ability to turn a custom accent ring and cabachon.

I hate to admit it, but I have quite a few and haven't turned one yet. Sorry, I know that doesn't help any. There hasn't been much shop time since I bought them. Turners Warehouse has been selling them almost exclusively in the US for a long time. Since Dayacom is going out of business, I suspect Beaufort kits will be a lot more prevalent.

Just got this email from Beaufort this morning - price increase coming for direct orders, so figure everyone will see increases shortly.

In fact they'll be going up on 2nd September

It's probably not necessary to explain the reasons why - we're pretty sure that everyone appreciates the fact that raw materials and the cost of shipping have both got more expensive

And so, although we've absorbed those increases up to now, we find that we can no longer ignore them. Therefore we need to follow suit and increase our own prices

Our pen kit prices will remain unchanged until 2nd September, which is after payday for most people, so if you stock up before then, you will still be able to buy them at today's prices

I cannot provide pen photo eye candy, as I am a quite low-volume pen turner. But here is a photo of four Beaufort Ink pens that I turned a while ago. I disliked the accent stripe I inserted into the top, blue, pen. I tried a wider accent for the next, non-Beaufort, pen.
