I found this tidbit of info on the internet: using this criteria, why would Firefox browser react differently to a web address than the Firefox on an apple phone? When I try my computer, using Firefox it loads just fine. When I tried to use Firefox on my phone, it keeps going round and round and round and round. when I tried Safari on my phone, it loaded fine.
Interesting to know. Thanks for sharing this information with us .I found this tidbit of info on the internet: using this criteria, why would Firefox browser react differently to a web address than the Firefox on an apple phone?
The difference arises because desktop Firefox uses the Gecko rendering engine, while Firefox for iOS is forced to use Apple's WebKit engine due to App Store policies. This fundamental architectural divergence means the two versions interpret web standards, handle JavaScript, and apply security rules differently, often leading to distinct behaviors for the same web address.
- Rendering and Engine Differences: Desktop Firefox's Gecko engine offers full support for extensions and custom rendering, whereas iOS Firefox acts as a "skin" over Safari's WebKit, lacking native extensions and sometimes exhibiting site compatibility issues that do not appear on desktop.
- Feature Limitations: iOS users cannot utilize advanced features like content blockers or specific add-ons that are standard on desktop, which can alter how a browser handles tracking, URL parsing, or page loading.
- Search and Configuration: While the browser engine differs, discrepancies in search results for the same address may also stem from the search engine selected within each browser's settings or differences in cached data and user profiles.
