Someone posted a while back, who or on what forum I don't remember, but they had purchased a battery for a for bucks and cut it open to reveal 4 or so button batteries that fit calipers. Anyone recall this thread or what the original battery was? A search for "batteries" and "battery" turned up nada.

Most of the silly LED devices at Dollar Tree (or whatever dollar store you have nearby) use the same button batteries. or at least the same voltage and similar enough in size to use. For example, the clip on book lights.

Once in a while they have cards of 5 button batteries there. I stock up when I see 'em.

I've done that too, but they don't last as long for me. These were supposedly lasting longer in calipers.

Mannie, I get Energizer #357 for my calipers
Thom,
That's what I usually use too, but this was way cheaper on a per battery cost.

Monty:
The a24 garage remote batteries that I buy (very small 12v) can be split apart and these individual batteries work just fine in my calipers.

I do have one P.O.S. Plastic caliper that uses the quarter sized battery. They will NOT work with that caliper.

I buy the small laser pointer and LED flashlight with a magnetic base and flexible shaft at MicroCenter, for around $2, and they come with around 3 extra #357 batteries. They work fine in calipers, and you get a cool flashlight that really does come in handy sometimes. It beats paying around $4 or $5 per battery at a drug store.
