This is a Baseball pen in antique pewter, from PSI. The blank is a Kirinite called Vivid Blue, from Exotic Blanks. I chose the blank because it's blue and red, and my friend is a huge Chicago Cubs fan. It's for his 60th birthday. I'll get it engraved before I give it to him. Lots of cool details in the kit.

For some unknown (to me, anyway) reason my friend doesn't like shiny pens. So I wet sanded to 1500, then tried Stick Fast Satin CA polish. Well that shined it right up. So I hit it with 1500 again and left it. If you look close enough you can see minute scratches, but it's the best I could do.

Very nice pen. I think it would be really difficult to achieve a uniform satin finish with some kind of soda blasting or something more random than sanding. - Dave

In the past, I've used 0000 steel wool with good results. But the last time I tried it, it left pretty bad scratches. This is one of my successes with steel wool.
