Does anyone make a barrel trimmeer with carbide cutters or one better than available from the normal channels. A few trimmings on dymondwood and mine needs resharpening. Tiresome, to say the least.

I just got a carbide trimmer from CSUSA, haven't tried it out yet.

I've been using a carbide one from PSI for three years with no sharpening. Still cuts like butter.

I've got the one from PSI.
I've had it for a while... works great on antler and bone, sometimes it seems a little TOO sharp for some softer woods.

I recomend a 4 blade cutter. I had nothing but trouble with the 2 blade.

Nick -- I have found the Berea one seem to be of better steel and/or better sharpened. Even those do go dull after a while.
Carbide does last longer but is even more difficult to resharpen.
Sanding jigs are the better way for the long term -- but a bit more hassle to get set up (that is my experience).
Ken Nelson (the laser engraver) has an offset mandrel that fits into the tail stock that he used to true his laser blanks. Looks like a design to emulate. He had a machinist mill it for him.
