Couple of months back I purchased a Powermatic 14" bandsaw and last Saturday I got the Carter Accuright Log Mill for the bandsaw. I had been storing some dogwood logs to make some pen blanks. Here are the results.

I bought one recently but have not set it up yet. My plan is to cut logs into bowl, pepper mill, pen and box blanks if for no other reason than to clear out all the logs from the garage and yard.

What size blade did you use? It looks to be a 3/8" or 1/2".

Dan, I bought the log mill on sale at 25% off so I think it was really worth its price. I was going to get one anyway and the discount was just icing on cake.

John, the blade is 1/2" 3 tpi. There is some discussion on this, some say that the 3/4" blade is too wide for the 14" Powermatic and some say the 3/4" would be O.K.
The 1/2" worked alright with no problems.

what size motor does the PM saw have on it?

I have the 14" craftsman band "professional" saw (basically a JET saw painted grey) - and it has a 1.5HP motor, where the JET only has 0.75 or 1HP

I have the same saw and like it pretty well.

Is the classification of hp the sane though ? Craftsman uses the 'max developed' thing.

Funny thing is, I just recently purchased a used band saw form an acquaintance, it has a 2hp 220 volt motor.
And I just purchased the carter system as well,
I have it sitting on my kitchen table, need to start working
and get it set up

Too, I purchased two 3/4" x 3tpi, which I need
to install also........

Can't wait to use it :beauty:

Ben,

Saw that one at Peachtree Woodworking over in Norcross while at a GWA meeting.
I figure it won't be too long and I'll have to have one of those. Been thinking how I can fabricate one without buying store bought. I have some ornamental cherry from a neighbor, and other I could mill into blanks.
