So I want to try and go into the world of Bakelite but am inexperienced on the material so I just have a couple questions...
Is there anyway to try and deduce if a Bakelite rod is real from a picture online? Any trick questions you can ask the seller?
Can it be tooled with normal bandsaws and such?
Which of the Bakelite tests are the most reputable?
What is the standard rod diameter required for penturning?
What is a good price per inch of that diameter?
What price would be to high to pay for that diameter?
Are there any sources other than eBay and the forum classifieds for the stuff?
I noticed a bulk lot of 1/2" rods on eBay, would those be too small for penturning? I guess it would work for slimlines and stuff but not many higher end pens...
