Returned to work today after being off since August 16, last year. It has been an interesting experience. I had a traumatic brain injury, a concussion (my 5th) and have had to regain cognitive skills, memory, some minor speech and task oriented skills. I am a Home Care RN and in the past have managed the health care of 20-30 children and adults. I will start back working two days a week to start, to see if I can deal or if there are still cognitive issues besides daily headaches and a sensitivity to light. I am unsure if I will be able to continue doing my job, as I have in the past.
I am tired tonight, feel like I have climbed a mountain. I have great respect for all traumatic injury people-it is an amazing thing to injury your brain. Athletes are at great risk, especially football players.
