Finally got back in the shop today and couldn't wait to turn perfectly good wood into shavings. This is Curly White Oak with a little experimentation thrown in for good measure. No those black and white bands aren't what you think. The white is a little trick I learned from Travis (Coach) and the black is from a snuff can. [
] The SL is black chrome and the finial wouldn't press into the black clip so I substituted a standard SL clip instead. I think it gives it an interesting look, but it may not be for everyone. I also took Russ' challenge to just polish the wood out and not put a finish on it. I did use Deft Sanding Sealer though, and then took it out to all nine grades of MM.
