You folks are a wealth of information and I thought I would ask here to see what people think and what people have experience with. Plus if I get you thinking about this you will forget to enter the trivia contest for today and I might have a chance at winning.

Does anyone here work at a place or own a place that has automated entry gates? I am thinking about going this direction at our storage yard. I am looking for brands and if what you have is prone to breaking down.

We lived in a apartment complex in California that had gates like the ones you discribed. Never had any trouble with them.

We have several at our different building both card access and fob's. I will get you some pictures.

We have had many installed on jobs over the years. You can get a simple one that opens with a remote like a garage door opener all the way to one that is integrated intop your security system. Teh integrated one will record wo enters, the time, when they depart etc. and you assign a code to each person that needs to use the gate. In a lot of places now you have to have on that has an extra device that lets the fire department enter. If you have a security system I would check with them first to see what they can do then any major fence company can install one for you.

Thanks a bunch. There is one place here whose gate is always getting jammed. I will be staying away from chain drive fences. I was wondering if these were problem prone or just this one poorly maintained gate.

At the hospital we have an arm that comes down on the doctors parking. They punch a code in and it goes up. Then the other side goes up when they exit. I been there 3 yrs and very little problem with the gate malfunctioning.
