Australian Banksia Pod Cigar

Cast this baby last night just before bed and woke up bright and early to pull it out of the pot and throw it on the lathe. Banksia seems to never, ever disappoint.

Finished with 8 coats of CA, wet sanded with Micro-Mesh™, 1500-12,000.
Cast with Alumilite Clear and Alumilite dyes. Love the stuff!

I bought the Banksia Pod at the Utah Woodturning Symposium. Got a bag of 12 pods for about $6.00 buckaroos. Couldn't pass that up!

Neither would I, that's very cheap indeed.

What I see as an outstanding job is the "meticulous" filling of each seed hole with the blue and then the white, and unless you used fast curing epoxy glue, that would be a ridiculously long project to complete, in any case, the effect is worth it and a great job, overall...!:wink::biggrin:
