I finnally broke down and attempted the dauting task of making segmented bowls. I managed to do two complete and a third in process. I finished two segmented bowls today with a third in process. I have been working on them for three days. I had no idea what I was doing but it worked so YIPPEE! The third bowl is an olive bowl I finished today as well.
The first bowl is a birch and walnut mix., The second is redwood with a birch ring. The base redwood is very old and was found under the ground in a garden. The rings at the top are freshcut from a bunch of scraps I had. Comments please.

Once you make segmented bowls it is hard to stop. A whole world exists just for us crazy people who enjoy them. Other than the endless cutting, sanding, gluing, designing.....it is just like making pens! Well done.

I like what you have done with them all, the Olive wood is my preferred one, you shouldn't be surprised about that however, I find your second bowl the most interesting of them all, you done a great work in combining the segmentation and the solid wood, very impressive, indeed...!

Great work on all three bowls. I especially like to olive bowl for two reasons: the first is the spectacular figure of the wood and the second is the creative inlay. Well done.
 
Here is the latest I mentioned earlier. The bamboo with maple and copper. The copper is a 1/2" copper pipe through the bottom. There is no finish yet and the bottom has to be completed. The rings and shaping are complete.

Larry, you do some great work. I like each of them, but the last one shows some great promise once finished. Did you keep track of how many pieces were in each bowl?
